In most situations to make family meetings work successfully, requires an outside individual to act as a chairperson/facilitator.
The chairperson/facilitator should ideally be a person who has no ties to the family. In other words, they are not concerned about maintaining friendships or other connections.
The chairperson/facilitator takes on the role of a neutral referee who has a mandate to allow each family member to express themselves without the fear of being “run over” by a more dominant personality.
Depending upon the size of the family and the size of the farm business, family meetings can be held as frequently as once per month or once per your.
